In June, the Supreme Court struck down a North Carolina statute with banned registered sex offenders from accessing social media because it violated their First Amendment rights (Packingham v. North Carolina). Now a judge in Kentucky is following suit. Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove, a U.S. District Judge in Frankfort, said that Kentucky’s laws restricted free speech by too broadly taking away Internet access for sex offenders.
