First came Huffington Post freelance writer Yashar Ali’s report that Fox’s Eric Bolling inappropriately sexted several colleagues. Then came Bolling’s suspension and Fox News’ investigation into allegations raised in Ali’s story. Bolling denied all allegations, promised pursuit of “legal remedies for any false and defamatory accusations that are made” and followed with a defamation suit. Now Ali is fighting back, demanding Bolling drop the lawsuit and discontinue his harassment. “Continuing litigation will only reveal that Mr. Bolling’s lawsuit was filed for public relations purposes and to retaliate against Mr. Ali for uncovering the truth,” writes Ali’s lawyer.

Lawyers for Fox’s Eric Bolling issued a summons to Ali in New York State Supreme Court which states, “The nature of this action is for damages and injunctive relief based on defamation arising from the defendant’s efforts to injure the plaintiff’s reputation through the intentional and/or highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements about the plaintiff’s conduct and character.”
